| This afternoon Holly was riding on the back of a golf cart that Vicky was driving. They were stopped so Holly relaxed & didn't hold on. Vicky suddenly took off & Holly fell off the back & her head hit the gravel. They brought her in to me & within minutes she was vomiting. She didn't make eye contact & wasn't talking much - it took us awhile to figure out that she hit her head. We called her doc who said to take her to ER. Mimi went with us & Jace stayed with the other kiddos. They took us back immediately & since she had vomited 4 times, gave her something for nausea & said it's definitely a concussion. They said its standard procedure to do a CAT scan to check for a brain bleed. She was starting to feel better & as she was checking out her hospital bed, almost fell out the other side...sigh. She's giving her mama gray hair. CAT scan came back clear & they sent us home w/instructions to watch her closely for the next 24 hours & to keep her low key. We asked her questions about what happened & she told us that she remembers falling & then feeling sleepy. Then she woke up to see Vicky floating around. Then she said things started splitting in half & she could see lines thru people & trees. She remembers being carried into school, but not much else until Mimi joined us on the way to ER. We're pretty sure she passed out. She'll be sleeping in our room tonight - we made a little nest on the floor & she's excited about that. I doubt that her papa & I will be getting much sleep. We were telling the children about the CAT scan & realized all 4 of the older ones have had at least one scan...Vicky has had 3 or 4...no wonder I feel old. This is an active bunch. And we have a 2 year old who loves to watch & mimic his older siblings take their bikes into the treehouse (which is 13 feet off the ground) & parachute off ladders with umbrellas. Thank you Jesus for keeping her safe! |

| The cold weather continues! This morning we recorded 32 degrees right here at our house. Isaiah prepared for it last night by putting a cup of water in the front porch... he snuck out of bed to do it without us knowing about it. This morning he proudly displayed the results:
In other news, our airport was incapacitated by the severely cold weather. Life is hard. |

| Jace took the boys to the petstore and let them play with the animals. While there, Isaiah and Tyler were looking at and touching the hermit crabs. Isaiah was a little nervous and was being very careful when Tyler bumped his arm. Isaiah jumped back and screamed, "TYLER!" loud enough for all to hear in the store. Tyler starts giggling and Isaiah says, "It could have bit me!". Tyler says, "they don't bite, they just pinch", and Jace agreed that they can pinch and told Isaiah that he knows someone who can pinch harder than anyone in the world. Isaiah's eyes go wide and he asks who. Jace says "God". Isaiah promptly starts giggling like crazy and is picturing the long arm of God sweeping from the sky to pinch someone. Like the Transformers. (No, we don't have any Transformers, but he used to play with them at therapy.) But think about it. God is a Transformer. He can change us for the better, if we let him. If he "pinches" us, it's to get our attention. Romans 12:2 |
